Rashuthere Maldives

Overview

Imagine checking your calendar in the morning and instead of meetings, it says snorkelling. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? But this not a fantasy dream; when you stay at the Rashuthere Maldives, located in the pristine Rasdhoo islands, you would be doing exactly that. Your day could be choc-a-bloc with activities like this: a walk at the beach, swimming with dolphins and Manta Rays, and catamaran sailing. Doesn’t it make you want to pack your bags right away?

Rashuthere is a quaint little guesthouse on Rasdhoo island. It is the best place for solo and backpacking travellers, also a great option for budget travellers. The Rashuthere guest house has a very local vibe to the place and you can enjoy some great Maldivian food here.

How to reach

The way to Rashdhoo is via Male city. The places are approximately 60 kilometres away from each other. You need to take a flight to the Velana International Airport (Male International Airport). From Male city, there are three ways to reach Rasdhoo: public ferry, scheduled or private speedboats, and seaplanes.

Public Ferry: Ferries are the basic means of transportation used by the local population in the Maldives. While they are cheap, they have specific schedules and take a long time to take you to your destination. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach Rasdhoo from Male. Also ferries from Male city to Rasdhoo run for only three days a week. This means that you’d have to coordinate your date with the day on which the ferry runs. Also, these ferries would probably start early morning. Your best bet in such a case would be to stay back in Male city for a night and then take a ferry the next day.

Scheduled speedboats: Good news for those who do not want to spend so much time on the journey to Rasdhoo. There are scheduled speedboats available from the jetty at Male city as well. While they charge much higher, they can take you to Rasdhoo within 1 hour and 30 minutes. Like public ferries, speedboats, too, run on specific days of the week. Book your ticket in advance if you can and coordinate accordingly.

Private speedboats: If you want your Maldives trip to start with luxury, you can opt for a private speedboat. While the time taken for a boat to take you to Rasdhoo will be the same, you don’t have to depend on the schedules and timings of the scheduled speedboats. Many agencies in Male help with booking a private speedboat. Given the perks, private speedboats are expensive.

Seaplanes: If private speedboats are not enough luxurious for you, you can also opt for seaplanes. Seaplanes are small aircraft that travel from one Maldivian island to another. Be warned though, seaplanes can be very expensive; although, they would take you to Rasdhoo from Male within 15 minutes. Talk about saving time! Also, the view from a seaplane promises to be exceedingly stunning.

No matter which means of transportation you take, it would be best to call the guesthouse staff at Rashuthere Maldives. You should contact the hotel staff a few days before your arrival so that they can guide you through the entire process.

Experiences

Rasdhoo is a beautiful island but not a remote one. You can hold all modern amenities at Rasdhoo. There are many fancy eateries and local tours that you can explore in Rasdhoo. If you catch the water sports bug, don’t worry: the staff at Rashuthere Maldives will help you with the facilities. You can dive underwater and swim along with Dolphins and Manta Rays. You can also go on catamaran sailing.

If you are looking to have a romantic time, Rashuthere has that figured out for you as well. The guesthouse arranges candlelight dinners for couples on the beach. You can choose anything from the menu and have a great time with your partner. Rashuthere also promises that you’ll have complete privacy while you spend some much-needed intimate time with the love of your life.
