  1. Banana Reef:

    Anyone travelling to Maldives for scuba diving cannot afford to miss Banana Reef. Banana Reef is one of the oldest and most popular diving sites in the Maldives. Both beginners and experienced divers can dive into the deep blue waters of the ocean. One of the best places to go scuba diving in the Maldives, Banana Reef starts at around 5 meters and can go as deep as 30 meters. Under the water, divers can enjoy a majestic view of the massive coral reef, and rich marine life. Reef Sharks, Morays, and Stingray Eels are common phenomena in these parts.

  2. Miyaru Kandu:

    Another great place to go for scuba diving in the Maldives, Miyaru Kandu offers a dive in a channel. Miyaru means Shark in Dhivehi, so it’s not surprising that this diving site is famous for sharks like hammerhead sharks, Grey Reef sharks, and Tiger sharks. Divers can even spot Eagle Rays and other marine life like Morays and lots of clownfish. November to March are the best times to spot sharks and other varied marine life in the channel. Miyaru Kandu is 30 meters deep and open to both experienced divers and beginners.

  3. Maaya Thila: 

    One of the best sites for scuba diving in the Maldives and the world, Maaya Thilla goes down to a depth of around 39 feet and offers some of the most amazing views of the underwater world. Anyone who has swimming with sharks as one of the points on their bucket list can fulfil their dream in Maaya Thila. The scuba diving spot is famous for the white-tip reef shark. Of course, there are many other varieties of aquatic life like parrotfish, butterflyfish, clownfish, and angelfish that scuba divers can explore in Maaya Thila.

  4. Fesdhoo Wreck:

    Shipwrecks have their own charming followers in the world of scuba diving. Around the world, many ship wreckages have transformed into an ecosystem supporting a variety of marine life. Fesdhoo Wreck is one among them making it one of the most famous sites for scuba diving in the Maldives. The wreckage of this ship is around 30 meters long and it lies at a depth of 30 meters from the surface making it easily accessible by divers. While Fesdhoo wretch k is full of Clownfish and Anthias, lucky divers can also spot eagle rays and white-tip sharks.

  5. Kuda Rah Thila: 

    Kuda Rah Thila is a small but breathtakingly beautiful reef for scuba diving in Maldives. Primarily frequented by experienced divers although open to beginners as well, Kuda Rah Thila is one of the top diving spots in South Ari Atoll. December through May is the best time to visit Kuda Rah Thila as the weather is calm and most marine life throng the coral reefs underneath the water. This is another great place to spot the grey reef shark in the Maldives.

  6. Chaaya Reef:  

    One of the best spots for beginners to start scuba diving in the Maldives, Chaaya Reef is small and sits at a depth of just 15 meters. But the less depth does not mean that it compromises the view. Chaaya Reef offers one of the most majestic views of the coral reefs in Maldives and, even at that depth, it is possible for scuba divers to spot sharks.

  7. Nassimo Thila:

    Widely popular for its coral reefs, Nassimo Thila’s coral blanket starts at just 9 meters under the water. However, the dive itself can be as deep as 30 meters. This amazing spot for scuba diving in the Maldives is popular among advanced divers as the current can be a bit strong and requires more experience to navigate. Divers from across the world visit Nassimo Thila for its stunning and colourful coral reef. Lucky divers can also spot sharks in these parts although the spot does promise a good show from sea turtles and eagle rays.

  8. Rainbow or HP Reef: 

    One of the most popular diving spots in Maldives, the HP Reef is also called Rainbow reef because of the plethora of amazingly coloured yellow, blue and orange corals that adorn its seabed. Divers can explore some magical underneath the water and even a vertical chimney that goes as high up as 25 meters. The reef is a whopping 40 meters deep and is frequented by both experienced and fresh divers from across the world. Like many other diving spots in Maldives, it is also possible to spot the grey reef shark in HP Reef along with a host of marine life like barracudas, eagle rays, etc.

  9. Maamigili Beru Reef: 

    The Maamigili Beru Reef is very popular among tourists because everybody who wants to try scuba diving in Maldives can do so from here. The reef starts at a depth of just 7 meters but can go down to 30 meters or deeper. Divers can spot eagle rays, moray eels, lionfish, clownfish and even grey reef sharks on a good day.

  10. Fish Head: 

    Inarguably, one of the best and most popular sites for scuba diving in the Maldives, Fish Head starts at a depth of 14 meters and descends to a depth of 35 meters. The site is open for scuba diving for both advanced and beginner-level divers. Under the water are massive caves, a wide net of colourful coral reefs and giant underwater rock formations. It is possible to spot the grey reef shark at this diving spot while aquatic creatures like barracudas and clownfishes are very common here.
